What is electrolysis?
Electrology is the science of permanent hair removal. Using state-of-the-art technology, a minimal amount of electricity is gently applied to the base of the hair follicle. This process destroys the hair growth tissue. Therefore, the regenerative ability of the hair follicle is permanently eliminated.
What type of hair does it target?
Electrolysis is effective on any type of hair on any skin type. It is more usually used on hair that cannot be treated by laser hair removal, like
- Sparse facial hair
- Sparse body hair
- Grey hair
- Red hair
- Blond hair
What areas can be treated with Electrolysis?
Electrolysis can be done anywhere on the body where hair grows! This includes: eyebrows, chin, upper & lower lip, jaw line & sides of the face, breast & underarms, abdomen, full bikini, bikini line, legs and back.
How many treatments should I expect to see results?
The number of treatments necessary varies with each client. Treatment sessions can range from 5 minutes to more than an hour, depending on the area being treated.
Factors such as hair growth cycles, the quantity and structure of hair presented, previous use of temporary hair removal methods, heredity, hormone function, certain medication and stress influence the treatment program for each individual. It is important to follow the recommended treatment plan to achieve optimum results.
Is electrolysis painful?
Electrolysis treatments sting, but individual tolerances vary greatly. Even the most sensitive person should be able to tolerate the treatments. The sting from the treatment quickly comes, and leaves just as quickly.
Electrolysis treatments are all about timing and intensity. Electrologists can choose between different methods of treatment, each with its own variation of comfort levels but with the same comfort, effectiveness and permanency. Our electrologist will consider your specific needs and design a treatment plan.
How do I prepare myself for the treatment?
Before starting the treatment, you will always be asked to come for a free consultation in order to determine if you are a candidate for the treatment. Ideally, you have to come as soon as you start feeling the hair growing back, so we can get it in its early growing phase. You should not pluck, shave or depilate your hair in between treatments. If your hair is getting too long, and you don’t have time to come, you can cut the hair with small scissors.
Will I need special care after the treatment?
Depending on the sensitivity of your skin, you may experience redness and irritation on the treated area right after the treatment. It should go away within a few hours.
Who can benefit from electrolysis?
Electrolysis can be done on anyone, men and women, of any skin colour and any hair type. It can even be done on pregnant women. We do ask to get the approval from your physician beforehand if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
